I got this photo earlier tonight from Candy Egan Perri, my Facebook friend. She took it in 1975. I am on-the-air in the WPEN studios, 2212 Walnut street in Center City Philadelphia. I was doing 6-10 PM back then.
I remember that shirt. I remember that vest. I remember those Clevite Brush headphones.
1. Is that an ElectroVoice 635A?
2. I think Marquette had those audio boards in the TV studios.
1) Yes
2) No. That was a custom board, a PM1 designed by my friend Peter Mokover.
Great photo. Do you miss the “good ol’ days”?
Happy Birthday!
I miss radio. I love radio. I would welcome the opportunity to add radio to what I do.
I miss being 25.
I’m pretty happy with my life right now.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY GEOFF! and many, many more! Great photo. Do you still have that shirt & vest? My husband still has Bermuda shorts with the buckle in the back from the 50’s, plus his old Navy uniform. He took the top out of the attic the other day and tried it on. It barely fit and he had a hard time taking it off but he threw it in the washing machine. I’m not sure why.
When did the station move to City Line?
77? 78? Somewhere in there.
I would never have known that was you. Good you explained it.
That sure looks like a tiny cubby hole–not much room to move around in.
A belated Happy Birthday to you, Geoff. I wasn’t aware that you had a former life in radio before appearing on television. 1975 was the year of my first on-air gig although being in my mid teens I didn’t earn a dime but it was a great experience.
I do miss 70’s radio. Hell, I miss 80’s radio, too!
