My Achy Breaky Everything

It’s 8:39 and I’m in bed.  Bad sign.  My throat has that “here comes a cold” feeling.  I’m achy.   I’ve got a headache. I’m weak.

Every cold is different,  but this one is arriving with both barrels blazing.

We have friends arriving from the east,  Friday.  I need my strength in a hurry.

How is it possible the common cold has not been cured?  I know so little I forget whether it’s a cold or fever you starve!

  1. Aww, Geoff… Hoping you don’t have the flu…recent plane ride and aches! Get to the doc or urgent care place and get checked…maybe tamiflu to shorten the course if it’s flu. You shouldn’t ache with a cold!! Feel better quick!!! Regards from cold Danbury!

  2. The adage is “Feed a cold, starve a fever.”

I just got over something. I coughed a lot, my nose was stopped up and I felt rotten. It took about 2 weeks before I started feeling good again. I went to the doctor a week ago and she told me I had bronchitis. I had to take antibiotics for 5 days. Hopefully you don’t have contracted. It is so easy to pick up something on a plane or a party, especially where there are a lot of children. Get plenty of rest and drink a lot of liquids. If it is a cold, you will probably be over it in a few days. If it is somethng more serious, it could take weeks.

  3. Bummer! Guess your body isn’t used to these drastic weather changes, anymore. The old adage is: Feed a Cold, Starve a Fever–meanining you can eat regular with a cold, but lightly with a Fever—you need some good old Jewish Chicken Soup!!
There was a warning in our newspapers and on TV, the beginning of the week regarding Flu—stating that it is coming around again for round 2. You might have picked up something with all that waiting around in airports. Also, your body can’t keep up with all the time changes. So—if it doesn’t clear up in a day or so, best get yourself into a walk in clinic.

  4. Evi is right you shouldn’t ache with a cold…..tamiflu will stop it in its track but you need to see a Dr. within the first couple of days for it to work. So if you have a fever and aches call Dr.

  5. We use apple cider vinegar and honey…. half and half… shake in a jar and take a tablespoon about every hour. It will sooth the throat and lessen the cough (the vinegar helps to kill the germ and the honey soothes). Also Vicks Vapo Rub on the insole of your feet, put socks on and your cough will ease u in about twenty minutes. People think I’m crazy when I tell them this, but it works !!! Feel better soon !

  6. Hope you feel better quickly, Geoff. Viruses are completely different. Some give glancing blows, but it sounds like you got hit with at least one barrel.

    Take good care of yourself.
