I’m working out of KMIR’s Palm Desert studio while I wait for mine to be built. Tonight, our floor director/camera op Steve took a few shots while I was on-the-air.
In case you don’t know, TV weather is usually done using chroma key. I stand before a blank green wall. The maps are inserted digitally.
The taped box on the floor is where I would stand if I didn’t pace back-and-forth toward the camera. The fact I touch the wall has driven many engineers and directors a little crazy.
The only way to know where I’m pointing is through a few strategically placed monitors. There are no reference points on the green wall.
I never see myself like this. It does look weird.
Geoff, it’s always fun when people forget and wear colors that make them see through against that wall……
Geoff I streamed your show last night. 8 EST Nice to see
you in action again. A familiar face and voice. Like old times. Best of luck to you.
Geoff,
I just don’t grasp how you can point to things on a blank wall.
I agree with Evi above—it is fun to see people disappear when they wear the wrong color that day. Do folks know in advance what to wear? I have also been amused as women anchors now a days seem to be wearing brighter colors and almost suggestive dresses—no longer the buttoned up blouses or suit jackets.
Right now I will have to be satisfied just watching your blog, til I get the courage to update my browser. But thanks for the explanations. Glad you are gainfully employed again.
Great to see you back where you belong Geoff. Only wish it were around here.
