I am writing tonight from the patio. The gas heater is on.
Even California has winter. It’s not what most people consider winter. We make do.
Because we’ve decided to totally embrace California we’ve allowed our bodies to adjust to a new normal. It’s not pretty. I’m not bragging. It is what it is.
All of this became obvious when Stef, visiting from Hollywood, asked if we wanted to take a walk? I threw on a sweatshirt and out we went. Helaine brought gloves for both of us!
Temperature: 56°. Wind gusting to 22 mph.
We put up our hoodies right away! Remember those live shots I once did in frigid and snowy Connecticut? I’ve blocked them out–every one.
Weather not withstanding it was a good night for a walk. We did three miles.
Christmas lights are up — some really nice, others weirdly weird. We love Christmas lights. We love Christmas.
At this point you might be saying, “But aren’t you….” And the answer is, “Yes.” We like to enjoy the spirit of the season with our friends and neighbors. Merry Christmas.
Which brings me to baked goods. Helaine and Stef have gone nuts the past few days baking. Tonight it all came together as they divided the cookies onto trays we’ll be giving to some friends nearby.
My daughter has inherited her mother’s baking skills. Seeing them working together in the kitchen was more than nice.
It’s the most wonderful time of the year, but too damned cold.
