I spent the day with Doppler. She’s a very good companion. Most of the time she’s relaxed, saving her energy for something… we just don’t know what.
We played our little doggie-daddy game today. She runs into my open hands then back to her bed, waiting for me to call her again. I think she enjoys that as much as I do.
Where Doppler is a little odd is eating. She has the appetite of a supermodel awaiting the Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue shoot.
When it comes to food, Doppler is very catlike.
We’re currently feeding her some sort of reconstituted beef. It comes totally dry and unappetizing. We add water. It’s still pretty gross.
Doppler will come to her dish then avert her eyes. No food is eaten until Helaine or I dip our finger in the gruel and hold it out as an offering.
She always begins by refusing. Usually, not always, she gives in and starts nibbling off our fingers. Sometimes this jumpstarts her appetite and she finishes on-her-own.
Mostly though, it’s a really gross meal served on a fingertip, one bite at a time.
Do we give her too many treats that probably spoil her appetite? Of course. What kind of parents do you think we are?
