My dad’s back in the hospital. He is slowly moving forward toward his TAVR ‘procedure.’
As Billy Crystal pointed out in City Slickers, “You’ll call it a procedure, but it’s a surgery.”
Tomorrow is a CT scan. This sizes my dad’s heart to decide how large his new valve will be. Because of the radioactive fluid which will be pumped through his arteries and his weakened kidneys, this is difficult diagnostic test.
He’ll rest a few weeks after the scan, monitoring his kidneys all the way, before proceeding with the TAVR.
I read his hospital consent form last night. Twenty pages of scary but unlikely outcomes. I’m not even sure I understood everything. It makes no difference. There is no choice to be made.
This is elective surgery in only the broadest sense. His life is threatened without treatment.
We continue to be optimistic, no one more that my father. He is weak of body, but strong of will. He’s peaking at the right time.
I wish him the best. Having a strong will to live is more than half the battle. I will keep him in my prayers.
We’ve got lots of people rooting for him, back here on the east coast.
I means LOTS of people…And I mean REALLY, REALLY rooting for him. We LOVE you, Uncle Harold.
Those consent forms are scary as hell. There is no choice. Your father’s optimism is his best bet – and all the prayers and well wishes. They count for a lot too. Keep us posted. Your Dad is loved by many who have never met him.
Hi, Geoff! I pray daily for your Dad’s health to be restored. I know the procedure isn’t easy and has risk, but living always involves risk. Your Dad has brought joy to so many of us as we came to know him through your videos and his million dollar smile. He’s military. He’s brave. Betting he does just great! As always, give him my love!❤️❤️❤️❤️
Your father is an amazing guy. I will continue to pray for him, and your family.
Yes, there are a lot of people here in CT keeping him in prayer. I heard of someone who had a valve replacement through a catheter in the leg (like angioplasty)–had it done last Monday and was home by Thurs. I will wish for the same recovery for your dad.
Add my name, to those in CT hoping for the best!
My Dad is too far gone for this.
I wish your dad the best of luck pray it’s another 90 years for him.
God’s blessings on you all. (((((Huggs))))
May God Bless your father and keep him safe. Amen
Keeping “watch” here in Florida also…those consent forms get longer and more involved all the time …every possible side effect or issue has to be disclosed….(lawyers need work)….Thanks for keeping us in the loop….hugs and prayers….
Geoff I’ll be praying for your Dad. Thanks for the information. He is a very strong man
Geoff,Also here in Ct. Paul and I have your Dad in our prayers that all go well and a smooth recovery . Our thoughts are with all of you and please keep us all in Ct posted.
Prayers for your dad and his doctors. He’s a fighter and that’s half the battle.
Your dad and family are still in my prayers. Your dad seems like a very strong man and a fighter.
Geoff,
Many of us in CT know and care about your Dad
because of your introducing us to him through
electronic means, but this still makes him real and
part of our lives too. His smile lights up our screens
as we pray and root for good health for him!!!!! He
is everything good we remember in our own Dads and
in our prayers daily, hope he knows he is not a stranger
and cared about by more people then he can
possibly imagine!!!!!!
Hope and prayers for your dad, Geoff.
