In a perfect world we’d all love warm fronts. After all a warm front means it’s getting warmer. Unfortunately warm fronts come with as much baggage as Lindsay Lohan! I’m mentioning this now because a warm front is sliding by Monday.
It’s easy to hear the warm part and think good thoughts. What’s left unsaid is warm fronts are often accompanied by clouds and precipitation.
Monday’s warm front is part of the system that’s been causing havoc in the Midwest Sunday. Thankfully no tornadoes, but over 220 reports of hail with twenty of those over two inches in diameter. There were also reports of wind damage–stuff like this from Kansas:
WIND DAMAGE REPORTED IN SEVERAL LOCATIONS ACROSS ANDERSON COUNTY. ROOF REMOVED FROM BARN ... WINDOWS BROKEN OUT OF HOME ... SHINGLES OFF OF HOMES ... A MISSING CARPORT.
Our warm front is followed by a cold front early Tuesday. That’s not our most favored time for strong storms, but it’s worth revisiting the chance for thunder later Monday when I’ve got fresher numbers.
I’m looking forward to a sunny and chilly Wednesday. That’s the best I’ve got right now.
