Is the headline too provocative? Katia doesn’t look like Irene. It does look like a bunch of storms I’ve tracked over the years. Each of them has passed wide right, safely missing the U.S. mainland.
There’s no guarantee that’s what will happen now. In fact there’s no guarantee period. It’s just the most likely of an unlimited number of choices.
At the moment Hurricane Katia is way out in the Atlantic. It’s about a week away from whatever its closest pass will be. It will be watched closely.
I’ll let you know if I change my mind.
What’s the graphic, Geoff?
Knock on wood, Geoff!! Yikes….no tempting her!
Looks like one of the computer long range model runs. If that one proves true, then we have nothing to really worry about.
Hopefully I’ll have internet and Tv back by the time we know more – just got power back this afternoon so I’ve been wondering what’s happening. One per season is really enough! (Make that one per 25 seasons!)
All I can say it’s not impossible and that things come in threes. We had an mini earthquake 2 weeks ago and Irene later that week and what’s to say Katia comes a little closer to the eastern part of connecticut especially the badly hit areas. HMMM…. I be watching.
What was it , 1954 , that we had 2 storms in CT? 30 years before my time, but wasnt that Carol and Edna?
Connie and Diane were about a week apart in ’55. Cause of the great flood August 19, 1955. The devastation was tremendous and the photos still astound me.
It’s starting to look like it’s going to take the same path as Irene…:-(
Briefly, no.
